Working with Trinity County’s roadway design team, MGE completed the preliminary engineering, and final design and PS&E for three soldier pile retaining walls as part of a project to reconstruct a 1.5 mile section of Hyampom Road along Hayfork Creek. As a result of the close proximity of the creek to the roadway, soldier pile walls were determined to be the preferred wall type to facilitate reconstruction of the roadway. The three walls utilize HP 10×57 steel piles set in concrete in drilled holes, and precast reinforced concrete lagging with a cast-in-place cap beam. MGE was also responsible for coordinating with the geotechnical consultant with regard to evaluating slope stability, and foundation investigations and recommendations for a bottomless culvert designed by the County.
