Construction of the Pliocene Ridge Road to Alleghany Roadway Rehabilitation project, consisting of the rehabilitation of 2.68 miles of roadway by recycling the existing pavement in place and overlaying with asphalt concrete, adding 2’ wide shoulders (with cantilever concrete slabs at select locations to accommodate the widening), replacing and adding guardrail, adding a 20 foot high concrete headwall to the culvert at Wet Ravine, and replacement of cross-culverts and inlet structures was completed on July 15,2013. The project, originally scheduled to be completed within 60 working days, was completed in 41 working days. The Contractor was able to accelerate the schedule due to the citizens of Alleghany agreeing to a complete road closure during construction. The project was constructed with no significant change orders and was completed within the project budget.
